STRAUSS - Ein Heldenleben (“A Hero's Life”)
Franz Welser-Möst believes in approaching music with “open ears,” especially in a piece as rich with extra-musical context as Strauss's very personal Ein Heldenleben (“A Hero's Life”). Welser-Möst shares the work's connection to the composer’s life and his own classical approach to this Romantic staple, encouraging performers and listeners alike to “let the music speak.” David Radzynski — the Orchestra’s newly appointed concertmaster — reflects on how the human voice inspires his reading of the virtuosic solo violin part and discusses his musical roots.
