About the Music

Beethoven  Overture to Egmont

beethoven  Symphony No. 4

beethoven  Symphony No. 5

Blossom Music Festival favorite Jahja Ling leads a journey through a trio of Beethoven masterpieces: the Egmont Overture, Symphony No. 4, and Symphony No. 5. All written between 1806 and 1810, they represent a time when the composer single-handedly redefined the scope of symphonic music, embedding it with human thought, emotion, and the lofty belief in civilization's power for betterment.

The Kent Blossom Music Festival began when a partnership between The Cleveland Orchestra and Kent State University was formed in Blossom’s first season, 1968. The advanced training program brings musicians from around the world together for professional training in chamber music and orchestra studies with members of The Cleveland Orchestra. A pre-concert program of music featuring the Kent Blossom Chamber Orchestra will also be part of the concert evening.

Special performance; not on subscription series.
