About CIPC

The Cleveland International Piano Competition (CIPC) was originally founded in 1974 as the Robert Casadesus International Piano Competition. Over the past fifty years, the competition has grown in prestige and size, launching the careers of famed pianists Angela Hewitt, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and Antonio Pompa-Baldi amongst many others. As the CIPC celebrates its 50th anniversary, the competition has been reimagined by its host organization, Piano Cleveland, “to identify and support the future leaders in the piano world.” Contestants will compete for the $75,000 Mixon First Prize as well as several other prizes, including an artist development program with ties to Cleveland cultural institutions.
