Chul-In Park joined the first violin section of The Cleveland Orchestra in September 1995. She has been a participant in the prestigious Marlboro Music Festival, where she has performed with members of the Guarneri Quartet and the Beaux-Arts Trio. She also has performed for the Mozart Bicentennial at Lincoln Center and the Juilliard String Quartet Seminar. As a winner of the Artists International Auditions, Ms. Park presented her New York debut recital in Carnegie Recital Hall.

Chul-In Park was born in Seoul, Korea, and came to the United States to study with Ivan Galamian at the Juilliard School at age 11. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Juilliard School as a scholarship student of Dorothy DeLay. She received a doctorate in music with a minor in arts administration from the Indiana University School of Music, where she served as teaching assistant to Josef Gingold, a former concertmaster of The Cleveland Orchestra.

Ms. Park is on the faculty at the Music Settlement and participates in The Cleveland Orchestra’s MusicMentors and Learning Through Music programs. She is married to Plain Dealer reporter Robert L. Smith. The couple has two young children.
